Our History

Trinity Church of Bedford began in Spring 2022, out of a desire to reach Bedford and the surrounding towns with the good news of Jesus Christ. After planting numerous churches in and immediately around Boston, Hope Fellowship Church (Cambridge, MA) saw a need to plant a church further out in the suburbs. Following years of Bedford, Hanscom, and area residents commuting into Cambridge to go to church, it made sense to start a new church in their community.

In 2018 Hope and Beacon Community Church (Belmont, MA) began prayerfully investigating the possibility of planting a church outside of 128. They eventually connected with Scott Cope, who had desired to plant a church in greater Boston since 2013. And, since his father has worked as an engineer in Bedford for the better part of a decade, Scott thrilled at the prospect of returning so close to home.

The Copes returned to the area in August 2020. And with a core team beginning to gather in Fall 2021, the church covenanted and began in Spring 2022.

Trinity Church of Bedford is grateful to partner with the SEND Network and the Pillar Network in the work of church planting.

 Our Name

As Trinity Church of Bedford, we seek to communicate that we belong to the historic Christian faith. Although we’re a new church, we exist to celebrate truths that are actually quite old.

As Trinity Church of Bedford, we emphasize that we are a body of believers. We’re not simply a group of Christians, like a Bible study or campus ministry (great as those are!). Rather, we have covenanted to and are members of one another. In short, we are committed to each another.

Finally, we are Trinity Church of Bedford. That is, we’re here to love and serve the town of Bedford. We want our lives to be salt and light, making a positive impact in our community. And we want our gospel proclamation to be powerful and winsome. Just as we’re committed to one another, we’re also committed to Bedford and its flourishing.
